Jens Peders entire family (father, mother and siblings) changed their last name from Knudsen to Emmertsen between 1860 and 1870, due to the change in the name law some years earlier, canceling the previous patronymous last names.

Death: 6 May 1928 in Huntsville, Weber Utah, at the Salt Lake Holy Cross Hospital. According to Jens Peders death certificate, he was apparently struck by an automobile, and died from several fractured ribs perforating his lungs.
